The Reverie Bar in Newington closed abruptly. No advance notice,
no To Let signs, just shuttered up.

That sort of thing usually seems to happen when there's been
serious criminality involved. Given how busy the place usually
was, it's hard to believe it was losing money.

Anybody know the background and in a position to tell without
getting cemented into the cellar?

I noticed that last week. The style of boarding-up looked as though it
would be appropriate for broken windows or fire damage though there's no
sign of smoke staining.

sills, so it looks more like improvements.

Ah, right. I noticed that some of the external panelling (roughly
equivalent to skirting boards) seemed to have gone missing. It may be
being replaced as well.
