The RCP is to be closed for 8 weeks to provide diving facilities for the
Glasgow Commonwealth Games:
"Reception have forwarded your email this morning regarding information on
the closure for the commonwealth games.
This is still being finalised so this is not concrete information. The dates
I have are that we will close from 22nd June 2013 - 15th August 2013. There
will be an email sent out to all of our members in February. This will
contain the information on what Edinburgh leisure is going to do for you
while the games are running i.e. other centres opening times, options on
freezing memberships, dates of closure etc.
I apologise that the information will take a while to be sent out. We are
working in conjunction with Glasgow games 2014 and Edinburgh council to get
these plans cemented and then get the information out to our members and
casual users.
I will speak with the centre manager today and update you on any dates or
times that she has in regards to this."
The recent tarting up of the Pool was in preparation for the Games but I
don't think that it was realised the closure would be for the whole of the
school holidays. This will be the third time the Games have disturbed life
in Edinburgh - the first two times cost us all a lot of cash as there was
insufficient funding. It is is no interest to Edinburgh - let's hope that
independence takes us out of the running permanently.
